- Joshua G. Berggrun (Cleveland office) is a Real Estate Law attorney focused on helping clients buy, sell, lease, finance, and develop commercial real estate and the real estate components of private equity and corporate transactions. Josh has significant experience representing lenders, real estate developers and investors, private equity funds, independent sponsors, lower middle market companies, shopping centers, medical and vet practices, family owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and manufacturing, distribution, and retail companies. He also represents lenders and borrowers in documenting term, bridge, and construction loans. Josh earned his J.D. from Elon University School of Law and his B.S. from Ithaca College.
- Bradley S. Pulfer (Cleveland office) is a registered patent attorney and member of Calfee's Intellectual Property practice group. Brad has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in numerous technology areas, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, financial services, telecommunication, computer networking, cybersecurity, blockchain/web3, electronic health records technology, digital streaming, and many others. Brad regularly counsels clients on ways to develop, grow, and protect their IP portfolios in forward-thinking ways. He also has significant experience enforcing and defending patent technology and other protected IP before federal district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Brad earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his B.S.E. in Computer Engineering from CWRU.
- Jack R. Smith, Ph.D., J.D. (Washington, D.C. office) is an Intellectual Property attorney with deep experience litigating and prosecuting patents and managing domestic and international portfolios for some of the world's leading technology companies. Jack's patent experience relates to a wide variety of technologies, including solid-state device technologies, artificial intelligence-based systems, autonomous vehicles, telecommunications equipment, optoelectronics, software for financial services, and medical device technologies. He has experience examining patent applications relating to photovoltaic and other alternative energy technologies for the USPTO. In addition to earning his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, Jack earned his Ph.D. and M.S.E. in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and his B.S. in physics, cum laude, from the University of Michigan.
