Community Outreach
Giving back to the community is a value deeply embedded in the culture of Calfee. From food banks and area schools to Habitat for Humanity and Toys 4 Tots, our community service efforts are approached with the same kind of enthusiasm we bring to our practice. Many Calfee attorneys support charities and several are service-sector leaders in various community diversity-driven projects. Below are a few of the organizations we support.

Pro Bono
Calfee is very active in pro bono activities. We are a repeating participant in the Cleveland Legal Aid Society’s Volunteer Lawyer’s Program, including Legal Aid's Free Advice Clinics and Evening Law Clinics. In addition to these one-off pro bono advice sessions for Cleveland Legal Aid, many Calfee lawyers take on responsibility for longer-lasting and varied types of projects, lawsuits, and challenges for Legal Aid clients.
Cleveland lawyers also spend time each year handling pro bono matters for the Northern District of Ohio's pro bono mission, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association's (CMBA) pro bono project, and the Bankruptcy Bypass program sponsored by CMBA; Wills for Heroes, a program that prepares free estate plans for fire, police and other first responders; and the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.
In Columbus, Calfee attorneys donate many hours in legal services to the Franklin Park Conservatory; and OSU Fisher Business School Business Plan Competition, providing legal services to the winners of the challenge.
In Cincinnati, Calfee attorneys actively support and donate legal services to many area nonprofits, including Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio, which engages attorney volunteers to provide nonprofits with free legal services tailored to their business needs.
"When we're called upon to help people that are less fortunate, or in the case of nonprofit entities, that don't have big budgets...to hire an attorney or law firm at an hourly rate, [helping] is the right thing to do."
Christopher S. Williams, Calfee Management Committee member, Litigation Partner and Chair of Calfee's Pro Bono Committee
