Calfee is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected for inclusion to the 2021 "BTI Client Service A-Team" and "Most Improved" lists researched and published by The BTI Consulting Group, the only law firm ranking program based on direct, unprompted feedback from corporate counsel. We are grateful to our corporate clients for providing positive feedback to BTI and for recognizing our efforts to deliver the highest levels of client service during this past year.
Calfee was ranked as one of only 70 law firms that have improved client service performance more than all other law firms. According to BTI, these 70 firms improved at more than twice the rate of other firms in the past year.
According to the BTI executive summary, client service delivery among law firms soared during the pandemic. More clients reported receiving excellent service this past year, which saw clients nearly doubling the number of core activities they use to separate top-ranked, or "A List," firms from all others. The seven most-valued client service activities delivered by top-ranked firms to their clients include:
- Mobilizing resources quickly*
- Fielding the absolute best team*
- Quickly assessing the situation*
- Commitment to help
- Delivering value for the dollar
- Client focus
- Understanding the client's business.
*Over the past year, corporate counsel identified three new client service activities as "mission critical and highly differentiating:" Mobilizing resources, fielding the absolute best team, and quickly assessing the client's situation.
Per BTI's research, 650 core law firms serve large and Fortune 1000 clients. A total of 282 law firms were cited by name by legal decision maker clients as outperforming all other firms in client service this past year. Of that group, 70 firms showed greater improvements in client service performance than all others.
The "Client Service A-Team 2021" is the only source for measuring the level of client service solely from the clients' perspective, drawing on data collected in BTI’s ongoing annual survey of general counsel, which includes 50% – 55% of companies that participated in prior years. This approach provides for accurate analysis of trends in the legal market gained through 350 in-depth telephone interviews with the highest-ranking legal decision makers at organizations with $700 million+ in revenue across more than 15 industry segments. BTI's Annual Survey of General Counsel is in its 19th year of publishing legal industry results.
