Associate Attorney Maureen T. Pavicic with Calfee's Estate and Succession Planning and Administration practice group recently wrote an article published in the Crain's Cleveland Business Wealth Management issue, "Assisted Reproductive Technology Challenges in Estate Planning."
Maureen explains that Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is becoming a common family planning concept and includes all fertility treatments involving eggs or embryos, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), surrogacy, and/or the freezing of eggs or embryos for future use. Under Ohio law, there are implications to be mindful of when developing estate planning instruments that may include future heirs born utilizing ART.
