Uneku is highly proficient in partnering with clients to facilitate successful negotiations and outcomes for complex legal issues. He is experienced in transaction management and leading large, cross-functional deal teams, and he has a proven history overseeing deals within various sectors, including FinTech, banking, consumer goods, and energy.

Licensed to practice in Illinois, New York, and Nigeria, Uneku is a multijurisdictional lawyer experienced in handling cross-border and international transactions.

Prior to joining Calfee in 2023, Uneku served in various in-house and law firm capacities in New York and Lagos, Nigeria where he represented domestic and international companies across various industries in mergers and acquisitions, divestments, venture financings, equity and debt investments, rights issues, commercial paper and bond issuances, regulatory compliance, and general corporate matters.

• Calfee served as lead counsel representing the seller, a Midwestern Ohio manufacturing company, in the 2024 disposition of the equity of its business.
• Calfee served as exclusive counsel to a multi-billion dollar private equity firm and registered SEC investment advisor in its 2024 minority investment in Northwest U.S. company, allowing the client to assist in the recapitalization of the company via a non-controlling minority interest.
• Calfee served as lead and sole legal counsel to a California-based consultant and broker-dealer in the 2024 sale of its subsidiaries to a publicly traded Fortune 1000 company.
• Calfee served as exclusive counsel to a private equity firm in the 2024 acquisition of all equity interests of two Michigan-based companies.
