Overview

Ellen has led complex, innovative engagements across diverse sectors ranging from fintech and telecommunications to hospitality and apparel. She has experience with a variety of capital arrangements and transaction structures including cross-border facilities, acquisition and project financings, workouts and restructurings, private placement offerings, structured finance, and securitizations.

Ellen has handled substantial financing matters for regional, super-regional, and national banks as well as non-bank and direct lenders, public companies, and private equity sponsors. 

Prior to joining Calfee in 2024, Ellen was a financial markets attorney with an international law firm and held in-house counsel roles at a multinational bank and a venture-backed financial technology start-up.

Ellen earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a contributor to the Journal of Law & Politics and Virginia Law & Business Review.

Ellen graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science; she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

  • A private equity sponsor focusing on the smaller middle market in a range of leveraged acquisition financings for portfolio companies ranging from $5 million - $50+ million in EBITDA
  • A lower middle market private equity sponsor in various fund line facilities, including subscription lines and management fee lines of credit
