Overview

Brynna has expertise in IP law and litigation, including patent applications, post-grant procedures, drafting patent invalidity and infringement charts, and deposition preparation.

In addition to her legal experiences, Brynna is highly knowledgeable in mechanical engineering and physics.

Before joining Calfee in 2024, Brynna served for three years as a Patent Litigation Associate with King & Spalding in Denver, Colorado, where she managed deadlines for more than 40 open IPRs in various stages while simultaneously drafting POPRs, drafting schedules, and coordinating with responsible partners, associates, and paralegals. She also gained experience in district court litigation. She drafted patent invalidity and infringement charts; prepared, took, and defended depositions of fact witnesses; and collaborated with senior attorneys and partners in preparing deposition outlines, a process that included identifying and summarizing key documents based on document review.

During law school, Brynna served as a Summer Law Clerk with Volpe and Koenig, P.C. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she executed trademark searches and wrote appeal briefs, pre-appeal briefs, and office actions while also producing for senior attorneys and partners memos regarding AI and IP, FDA safe harbor provisions and patents, and sovereign immunity. She was invited to spearhead a companywide presentation on sovereign immunity and IP.

Prior to law school, Brynna also served as a Patent Agent with Boudwin & Associates in Swedesboro, New Jersey, where she worked directly with independent inventors to file more than 50 non-provisional utility applications in primarily mechanical fields. Brynna additionally responded to more than 20 office actions from the USPTO, specifically 102 and 103 rejections. She also initiated and conducted interviews with Patent Examiners.

Brynna earned her J.D. with a concentration in Intellectual Property through an accelerated two-year program at Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she was awarded the Robert B. Washburn Intellectual Property Law Scholarship and CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for Best Student Performance in Patents, Best Student Performance in Copyright, and Best Student Performance in Torts. Brynna was also a student member of ChIPs, the Benjamin Franklin American Inn of Court, and the Student Intellectual Property Law Society. Brynna served as the Accelerated Program Representative for Drexel’s Student Bar Association.

Brynna earned her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University and her B.S. in Physics from the University of Richmond.
