On October 21, 2022, Adam P. Slepecky, Partner with Calfee's Intellectual Property practice group, gave a presentation on intellectual property and patent law to scholars with The Ohio Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP).
The Ohio LSAMP is an organization compiled of students who are STEM majors from six four-year institutions (Central State University, University of Cincinnati, Cleveland State University, Miami University, The Ohio State University, Wright State University) and four community colleges (Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Columbus State Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, and Sinclair Community College) across the state of Ohio.
These are students from underrepresented populations majoring in STEM career pathways. The goal of the organization is to increase the number of graduates with bachelor degrees in STEM and prepare them for future professions in STEM. Adam’s presentation and discussion focused on possible career opportunities for these STEM scholars in hopes of sparking interest in pursuing a career as a patent lawyer.
