Calfee IP Partner Adam P. Slepecky Speaks at the 2023 Ohio Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Alliance Conference

Adam P. Slepecky, Partner with Calfee's Intellectual Property practice group and member of the firm's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, presented at the 2023 Ohio Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Alliance Conference.

Adam and co-presenter J Brady, Intellectual Property Attorney: IP Strategy, Medical Devices, and Nutrition with Abbott, discussed various career opportunities and pathways in patent law with the undergraduate STEM students attending the conference.

Adam Slepecky previously presented to Ohio LSAMP Scholars on the topic of "Protecting Your Ideas: Intellectual Property Law" in October 2022.

Established in 2013, the Ohio LSAMP Alliance is an organization comprised of STEM students from six four-year higher education institutions (Central State University, the University of Cincinnati, Cleveland State University, Miami University, The Ohio State University, Wright State University) and four community colleges (Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Columbus State Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, and Sinclair Community College). The Ohio LSAMP Alliance is housed in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at The Ohio State University.

The mission of the Ohio LSAMP Alliance "is to significantly increase underrepresented minority student recruitment, retention, persistence, and attainment of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) degrees." The goal of the Ohio LSAMP Alliance "is to double the number of underrepresented minority baccalaureate degrees in STEM disciplines at partner institutions."

The 2023 Ohio LSAMP Alliance Conference, held over 2.5 days at The Ohio State University, offered LSAMP Scholars the opportunity to work with faculty, staff, and other professionals to "develop strategies that will bring about institutional change and empower students to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals."
