Marcia is Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Benjamin Rose Institute, is a member of the Board of Books@Work and is a member of the Advisory Board of Facing History and Ourselves. She was the Founding Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. She was the inaugural chair of the Diamond Advisory Group of University Hospitals and was their first Distinguished Advisor Award winner (2007).
In October 2015, Marcia was named one of “Northeast Ohio’s Most Connected” by Crain’s Cleveland Business. She was the 2014 winner of the Athena Award, given in recognition of professional excellence, community involvement and efforts to assist women in realizing their leadership potential. In 2013 she was inducted into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. She was named the Distinguished Estate Planner of the Year (2008) by the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland, has received the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award (2009), the Northern Ohio Live Rainmaker Award (2007) and was named as a Women of Note finalist by Crain’s Cleveland Business (2011). She was a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 1998 and served as class president. A member of the executive committee and former chair of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Planned Giving Council, Marcia also has served as vice chair of the Women Managing Money Educational Project of the Women’s Community Foundation, was the Founding Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Jewish Community Federation and was a member of the Cleveland Foundation’s Philanthropy and Communications Committee. In addition, she has served on the board of directors of the Northern Ohio Planned Giving Council and The Montefiore Foundation. Marcia is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, as well as a frequent lecturer and noted author. Marcia has been selected as one of The Best Lawyers in America in trusts and estates law and designated an Ohio Super Lawyer. She is a member of the American, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
Marcia was an associate then a partner in a Philadelphia law firm until 1990 when she joined Calfee as a partner. She was formerly a member of the firm’s executive committee, a position she held since 2003.
