He also has experience counseling clients with respect to the formation and representation of private foundations, public charities and other nonprofit entities.
Jim served as an intern to Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom Nicholas B. Harvey. During his time on Mr. Harvey’s staff, Mr. Harvey served as the party’s Secretary of State for Health.
Jim is also the Adjunct Professor of Estate Planning at the University of Cincinnati School of Law and was named to Cincinnati Business Courier’s “Forty Under 40” Class of 2012.
He has been named to the Ohio Rising Stars List for Estate and Probate by Super Lawyers (2011-2018). He is a 2012 recipient of the Ohio Bar Association’s Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.
Jim recently authored an article to be featured in Best Chapter Magazine. The article, entitled “Presidential Politics is Upon Us” is focused on estate planning in relation to the current state of presidential politics in the country.
Jim is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Cincinnati Estate Planning Council. He is an officer of the Estate Planning Section of the Cincinnati Bar Association.
Active in the community, Jim serves on the Board of Portrait of a Soul. He served as General Counsel for the Indian Hill Club, where he also served as Treasurer from 2005 through 2008. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where he served as Chairman of the MS150. Jim also serves as General Counsel for the Patients of The Heartland Homecare Hospice. He is President of The University Club of Cincinnati as well as a member of its Board of Governors.
Jim served as Mariemont High School Alumni Association President from 2007 through 2012 and was General Counsel and President of the Catawba House Condominium Association from 2007-2014. He currently serves as General Counsel and Secretary for the Mt. Adams Hillside House Condominium Association.
Jim has served on the Boards of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, the Mariemont School Foundation, Family Service of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Estate Planning Council.
He joined Calfee as a partner in 2014.
