Prior to joining Calfee, Brendan served as a law clerk for the Honorable Russ Kendig, Chief Judge for Northern District of Ohio Bankruptcy Court. Additionally, Brendan was an associate at two Cleveland-area law firms before joining Calfee in 2018.
Brendan earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he served as a Senior Editor of the Cleveland State Law Review. He earned the Robert D. Kensey Memorial Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Civil Rights for his note: “Striking a Balance: Why Ohio’s Felony-Arrestee DNA Statute is Unconstitutional and Ripe for Legislative Revision,” which was published in the 61 Clev. St. L. Rev. 529 (2014).
While in law school, Brendan simultaneously earned his M.P.A. from the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs of Cleveland State University, with a Certificate in Economic Development. Brendan obtained his Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in Classical Civilizations and History from Ohio University in 2009.
Brendan is actively involved in the Cleveland community. He serves on the Alumni Board of Urban Community School and on the Associate Board of Malachi House. He is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association – Northern District of Ohio Chapter, and he serves on the Board of the American Constitution Society, Northern District of Ohio Chapter.
