The firm is committed to fostering a more diverse legal profession from which everyone will benefit. The unique qualities and backgrounds of each of the attorneys at the firm enhances the experience externally as well by bringing greater value to our clients. Diversity leads to creativity and innovation in problem-solving.
We encourage interaction across departments, practices and our three offices throughout Ohio. Greater understanding can lead to better team cohesion, and ultimately interdepartmental understanding leads to imagination and efficiency in serving the needs of our clients. We also understand the need to have a confidential environment where attorneys with similar backgrounds can come together to share experiences and forge relationships. This is where Calfee’s affinity groups come in.
“Embracing diversity is a key element for a firm to attract and retain talent,” notes Teresa Metcalf Beasley, co-chair of Calfee’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and chair of the Calfee Inclusion Network. “Attorneys want to work at firms where they feel heard and included, and where they believe they can make a difference.”
We currently have three such groups:
• Calfee Inclusion Network, contact Teresa Metcalf Beasley to learn more
• Jewish Lawyers, contact Marcia Wexberg to learn more
• Women of Calfee, contact Leah Pappas Porner to learn more
These informal environments are one way in which Calfee tries to enhance the experience at the firm for all those who work here.
